Winter camping can seem daunting, but with the right tools it’s an incredible way to experience the outdoors in a new way. Watch for tips from our resident four-season camping expert, Bryan Rogala.
Bryan reviews winter camping gear essentials that will keep you warm and comfortable in any weather – even sub-zero temperatures. A few quick tips: Always pack for temperatures at least 10 degrees below what’s forecasted, and make sure to bring your heaviest jacket (even if you don’t think you’ll need it). For outdoor cooking in cold weather, opt for a liquid fuel stove as opposed to a traditional canister stove. Liquid fuel stoves tend to be more reliable at high altitudes and cold temperatures, whereas a canister stove can lose pressure and be much less effective. And, of course, don’t forget to bring a shovel if you’re camping in the snow.
